Microcurrent + LED Light Therapy

Proper care following your treatment is important to ensure optimal results.

The Ultimate Guide to LED: Pre and Post-Treatment Care

Microcurrent therapy uses low-level electrical currents to stimulate facial muscles and boost collagen, while LED light therapy promotes skin healing, reduces inflammation, and enhances radiance. Combined, these treatments improve tone, firmness, and overall skin health.

To ensure the best possible outcome, it’s essential to follow the proper before and after care guidelines.

Here’s what you need to know:

Before Your LED: Preparation Tips

To ensure that your treatment is a success, there are a few things you should keep in mind before the appointment:

1. Clean, Makeup-Free Skin

  • Remove all makeup, oils, lotions, and sunscreen from the treatment area.

  • Clean skin ensures maximum effectiveness of both microcurrent and LED therapy.

2. Avoid Exfoliation and Retinoids

  • Skip chemical peels, scrubs, or retinoid products 2–3 days prior to treatment to prevent irritation.

3. Hydrate

  • Drink plenty of water in the 24 hours leading up to your session. Hydrated skin responds better to microcurrent stimulation.

4. Avoid Sunburn

  • Do not expose the treatment area to sunburn, tanning, or heat treatments before your session.

5. Consult About Medical Conditions

  • Consult your practitioner if you have pacemakers, epilepsy, metal implants, or other medical conditions.

  • Microcurrent therapy may not be suitable for certain conditions.

After Your LED: Post-Treatment Care

1. Hydrate

  • Drink 2–3 litres of water over the next 24 hours to aid detoxification and support skin rejuvenation.

2. Moisturize

  • Apply a gentle, hydrating moisturizer to soothe and protect the skin.

3. Avoid Sun and Heat Exposure

  • Skip direct sunlight, saunas, steam rooms, or hot baths for 24 hours post-treatment.

  • Apply SPF 30+ if outdoors.

4. Gentle Skincare

  • Avoid chemical peels, strong exfoliants, or retinoids for 24–48 hours.

  • Use mild cleansers and skincare products.

5. No Makeup Immediately

  • Wait a few hours before applying makeup if your skin feels sensitive.

6. Monitor Reactions

  • Mild redness, warmth, or slight tingling may occur; this usually subsides quickly.

Results and Maintenance

  • Frequency: 1–2 sessions per week for optimal results.

  • Consistency: Visible improvements in tone, firmness, and radiance often appear after 4–6 sessions, with cumulative benefits over time.

Important Notes

  • Not suitable for clients with pacemakers, epilepsy, metal implants, photosensitive conditions or those taking photosensitizing medications.

  • Always disclose medical history, medications, or skin sensitivities prior to treatment.
