Laser Lipolysis

Proper care following your treatment is important to ensure optimal results.

The Ultimate Guide to Laser Lipo: Pre and Post-Treatment Care

Laser Lipolysis is a minimally invasive body contouring treatment that uses laser energy to break down fat cells and tighten the skin. Proper before and after care is crucial to maximize results, reduce side effects, and support your body’s natural healing process.

Here’s what you need to know:

Before Your Laser Lipo: Preparation Tips

To ensure that your treatment is a success, there are a few things you should keep in mind before the appointment:

Hydrate Well

  • Drink at least 1.5–2 litres of water daily for 1–2 days before your session.

  • Hydration helps your body flush out the fat released during treatment.

2. Healthy Diet

  • Avoid alcohol, caffeine, and high-fat foods 24–48 hours before your appointment.

  • Light, balanced meals improve treatment efficiency.

3. Avoid Sunburn & Skin Irritation

  • Do not tan, wax, or use chemical peels on the treatment area for at least 48 hours prior.

  • Sunburned or irritated skin can increase sensitivity and the risk of complications.

4. Clean Skin

  • Arrive with clean, dry skin, free of lotions, oils, or creams.

  • This ensures the laser penetrates effectively.

5. Consult Your Therapist

  • Inform your practitioner about any medical conditions, medications, or implants.

  • Laser lipolysis may not be suitable for individuals who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have certain health conditions.

After Your Laser Lipo: Post-Treatment Care

1. Stay Hydrated

  • Drink 2–3 litres of water daily for 24–48 hours post-treatment.

  • Hydration aids lymphatic drainage and fat elimination.

2. Gentle Exercise

  • Engage in light physical activity, such as walking, to boost circulation and lymphatic flow.

  • Avoid intense exercise for 24–48 hours, depending on your practitioner’s instructions.

3. Skin Care

  • Apply gentle, fragrance-free moisturizer to the treated area to soothe and protect skin.

  • Avoid harsh scrubs or exfoliation for 3–5 days post-treatment.

4. Avoid Heat Exposure

  • Skip hot baths, saunas, steam rooms, and direct sun exposure for 24–48 hours.

  • Heat can irritate sensitive skin and affect healing.

5. Compression Garments (if recommended)

  • Some practitioners may advise wearing a compression garment to reduce swelling and improve contouring results.

6. Monitor for Side Effects

  • Mild redness, swelling, or tenderness is normal and usually subsides within a few days.

  • Contact your provider if you experience severe pain, bruising, or unusual symptoms.

Results and Maintenance

  • Sessions: Laser lipolysis is often performed in 1–3 sessions per area, depending on the amount of fat and desired results.

  • Spacing: Sessions are usually spaced 2–4 weeks apart to allow healing and fat elimination.

  • Maintenance: Combine with a healthy lifestyle, balanced diet, and regular exercise for long-term results.

Important Notes

  • Laser lipolysis is not suitable for pregnant or breastfeeding women, individuals with active infections, certain skin conditions, or severe medical issues.

  • Always disclose medications, implants, or allergies to your practitioner prior to treatment.
